Charity Accessibility Audits

Welcome every single supporter

Ensuring your charity website is fully inclusive is one of the most powerful ways to expand your digital reach, remove barriers and welcome every single supporter to your mission – and it starts with an accessibility audit.

Using a blend of automated tools and expert manual testing, we can conduct an audit of your organisations’ website, benchmarking it against the latest WCAG 2.2 standards and helping you become compliant with the relevant accessibility guidelines.

Delivered

An accessibility audit is not just running your website through a free online checker.

With years of charity accessibility experience, we use a a blend of automated tools and expert manual testing.

It’s an audit’s job to not only find the barriers on your website, but to give you a clear, prioritised path to removing them – so every supporter can donate, sign up and get support without frustration.

  • First we agree the scope - which pages, templates and supporter journeys matter most to your charity
  • We run automated scans to catch the technical basics like contrast failures and missing alt text
  • Our team then manually tests your website against the latest WCAG 2.2 standards
  • We check critical elements like keyboard-only navigation and compatibility with assistive technologies
  • We evaluate usability across a wide spectrum of needs including visual, auditory, physical and cognitive
  • We compile your findings into a prioritised report based on impact, urgency and effort to fix
  • We talk you through the results and, if you'd like, work with you to resolve the findings

Words from our lovely clients

We’ve really enjoyed working with Atelier on re-designing the No Limits website. They understood what we needed right from the beginning and have designed a brilliant, accessible website that fits all our needs. Jess and the team have always been very quick to respond to our questions and have been professional throughout. We’re really happy with the end result, thank you Atelier!

All you need to know about our accessibility testing service

What’s the difference between the free audit and the detailed one?

The free basic audit – part of our charity partner benefits – benchmarks your website against WCAG 2.2 and highlights the key issues and where to start. Think of it as your accessibility health check.

The detailed audit goes much deeper: every critical page and template, manual assistive technology testing throughout, a full written report for trustees and funders, and a follow-up session to talk it all through.

Why can’t I just use a free online accessibility checker?

You can – and it’s a decent place to start! But automated tools only catch a portion of issues, mostly technical ones like contrast failures or missing alt text.

They can’t tell you whether your alt text is meaningful, whether your donation form works with a screen reader from start to finish, or whether your error messages actually help. That takes expert manual testing.

My website was built by another agency – can you still audit it?

Absolutely. Most of the websites we audit were built elsewhere. We just ask for an opportunity to review the site first so we can understand any custom features.

What happens after the audit?

No walls of jargon – you’ll get a prioritised list of recommendations based on impact, urgency and the effort required to fix them, so your team knows exactly what to tackle first.

You can make the fixes in-house, or we can implement them for you through a one-off project or one of our website support packages.
